Although this book targets young adults, I found the message of this book to be motivating and inspiring. It helped me to view my job as a homeschooling mother of 3 children not just as a job, but as a role created specifically for me. It challenged me to think through many of my strengths and understand why certain areas are harder for me. It also was helpful in viewing the strengths and weaknesses of my children.
Max Lucado has a wonderful way of keeping your attention with powerful stories about other people and biblical truths that speak right to your heart. This small "gift sized" book was packed with truths and thought-provoking statements about how God made us, uses us, and wants us to find our "sweet spot" so we can serve Him better.
This book is a short read (127 pages), which was kind of disappointing. I had hoped for maybe some kind of a checklist to assess your skills at the end, but there was none. However, Lucado gave me something to think about and for that he gets my approval. This book would make a great gift, as the cover mentions, for the Graduate. It is hardbound and the picture on the front is a great one for this book. I think if you read this book, you will find yourself thinking about your divine purpose in a new light. It's never too late to seek your purpose in life or think about where God wants you. This book offers a great message to those who are thinking about God's call on their lives and where to go with it.

Max Lucado has done a great job with this short, yet powerfully messaged "gift" book, "You Can Be Everything God Wants You To Be." A thought provoking guide to anyone who is searching for their place in life, and maybe even a surprise to those who already feel they have found their place. Max points out statistical evidence that a large number of people are unsatisfied in their current employment, just getting through the day. He offers hope and wisdom for readers, that they ARE equipped for a purpose and that purpose will lead to a fulfilled and worthy life.
Max shares biblical truths about our purpose, our place and how our Creator made each of us with special abilities that our absolutely unique to every one of us. Max uses scripture to guide us on a thinking journey of our childhood, what did we love to do? Where were our successes? What made us feel amazing? He encourages us to use these memories to find our "Sweet Spot," a merging of our skills, passions and God's purpose for our life, to find our calling.
Overall, this book is thought provoking and uplifting. Encouraging us not to settle for a life of dullness, but to find our purpose in God's plan for our lives so that we can live in our sweet spot! It is just short enough to be a very quick read, but long enough to leave the reader with more than just an entertaining book, but one that has the power to push us to change our life! Perfect for the graduate who is considering these very things, but also for anyone you know that might be searching for more.
